Since supporting The View on 1 January, Acrylic have gone on to win over audiences at key Scottish venues including King Tut’s, Nice’n’Sleazy, Fat Sam’s, Sneaky Pete’s and The Electric Circus. Moreover, the Glasgow-based five piece have also been picking up plays from the likes of Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 and the Roddy Hart Show on Radio Scotland. Although they describe themselves as alternative indie-rock, the band have a more subtle sound than many of the acts who would put themselves in that category. On their new single, Overrun, the vocals suggest a crooner-ish yearning, while a jangly guitar provides a touch of summer lightness. The track, which was released on Friday is mixed by veteran producer Paul Savage, and comes a week after the band played Glasgow’s St Luke’s Festival. Acrylic venture out of the Central Belt to play the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival on 5 August.
