Doss > Off Axis > Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday, 11 January 2026
Although they bring a distinctively Glaswegian perspective to their songs, Doss are building a following well beyond their home city, write Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss read Scotsman.com

Doss have been built a respectable following since the release of their debut single Posers in 2021, and have been championed by the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway. Specialising in a brand of electronic post punk popularised by the likes of the Viagra Boys and Sleaford Mods, they have the added bonus of a Glaswegian perspective which blends social commentary with biting humour. Their 2021 debut single Posers, set the tone, poking fun at hipster buskers, while the following year, The Mullets Are Moving In tackles, the gentrification of Glasgow’s working class neighbourhoods.

However, Doss’ appeal strikes a chord well beyond their native city and they have toured both the US and Europe, as well as festivals dates as varied as Sharpe (Slovakia), Bearded Theory (Derby) and closer to home, Kelburn Garden Party.  Ahead of the vinyl release of their eponymous EP on Alcopop Records in May, the band headline The Glasgow School of Art on 18 April, while anyone keen to see sooner, they are set to play the Cowgate Block Party festival in Edinburgh on 31 January visit https://www.instagram.com/doss.c_nt
