We first discovered Hector Shaw at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in 2019 via youth music projects Musicplus+ and Hit The Road. He was performing a live session for NetSounds and his set was so mesmerising, he’s been on our radar ever since.
Growing up in a musical family has helped hone his craft - his parents, Karen Matheson and Donald Shaw are members of Capercaillie.
Recorded at An Tobar on the Isle of Mull by Gordon Maclean, Gravity is a fantastic debut, showcasing Shaw’s intricate guitar playing and warm vocals. He’s accompanied by Sorren Maclean on guitar, Hannah Fisher on backing vocals and producer DUNT (aka Andrew Samson) on drums. Last week the track was Single of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland’s flagship culture show, BBC In the Afternoons with Janice Forsyth and Grant Stott last week, we predict a lot more attention in the coming months see ⬇️
