The Shine | Dragon Soop Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday, 17 September 2023

Words by Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss. Read on Scotsman.com

Formed in the picturesque Highland village of Kinlochleven, in the Lochaber region, (aka the outdoor capital of the UK), The Shine have been busy creating some catchy brit-pop / acoustic folk.

The five-piece band is led by core songwriters Paul Martin and Jamie Donaghy (both guitar and vocals) with the rest of the group consisting of Marc Comiskey (lead guitar), Tom Jenkins (drums) and Matt Cooper (bass). They’ve enjoyed airplay on Amazing Radio, community station Nevis Radio and performed at local festivals such as WestFest and during big local events like the Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup and Scottish Six Days Trials.

They’ve also played at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival including slots onsite in support of Inverness-based mental health and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline

We recommend checking out their most recent single, the excellent, upbeat Blue eyes and ginger Hair. The Shine support Kyle Falconer (The View) at The Railway Club in Fort William on 6 October full info see  https://www.facebook.com/theshine101
