Words by Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss. Read on Scotsman.com

We first encountered Lizzie Reid as the beguiling bassist for Wide Days showcase act Crystal (now Dead Pony), and while her solo work is much more gentle, it packs a strong emotional and musical punch. Following in the footsteps of Scottish masterpieces such as Camera Obscura’s Let’s Get Out Of This Country and Isobel Campbell’s Ballad Of The Broken Seas, her forthcoming EP, Cubicle, was partly inspired by a relationship breakup and sees her channelling her heartache into a beautiful collection of songs, which have already garnered plays on 6 Music and Radio 1

Released on 10 February via the 7476 label, founded by the A&R who signed Frightened Rabbit to Atlantic Records, it was recorded with producer Oli Barton Wood last March and completed just days before Lockdown V1.0 was announced. Reid is one of the first 50 acts confirmed for this year’s The Great Escape Festival and is undoubtedly one to watch in 2021 https://www.lizziereidmusic.com/
