Bulletdodge Records’ forthcoming mini-album, Assortment 1, might best be described as the musical embodiment of how the Glasgow label describes itself: “a collective movement of musicians and DJs whose focus is to challenge the limits of electronic music.”
Released on 15 February, it features eight tracks by a variety of artists, adding smatterings of post-punk, dub and experimental ambient sounds, to the genres has more usually associated with. The first four tracks have the feel of an atmospheric soundtrack for a scary film, or a documentary featuring awe-inspiring nature, the tempo picking up half-way through with a collaboration between The Revenge & Mash. Among our favourites is Leave With Me featuring veteran guitarist Stewart Cunningham (pictured) which is a compelling blend of big beat, acid house and spacey bass.
