Glasgow-based trio Taupe first met in Newcastle as music students, where they embraced a an exciting, experimental sound guaranteed to appeal to the listener who enjoys being musically challenged.
The band comprises Mike Parr-Burman (guitar, bass guitar, electronics), whose first musical obsession at the age of seven was the band Steps, alongside Jamie Stockbridge (alto and baritone saxophones) and the ubiquitous Alex Palmer (drum kit, percussion). Self-described exponents of skronking (the act of producing raw, harsh, and intentionally discordant sounds particularly the saxophone or electric guitar) they have been featured on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, RTE and Resonance FM and count comedian Stewart Lee as a fan.
The band have toured extensively across the UK and Continental Europe, with new musical ideas usually road-tested on live audiences, before being honed during the recording process. Earlier this year, Taupe released the album waxing | waning on Prague vinyl label Minority Records, which was recorded in the Glasgow studio previously occupied by an undertaker. This sets up dates at Glasgow’s The Hug and Pint on 27 March and Edinburgh’s Leith FAB Cricket Club on 28 March, followed by European shows in April and June visit https://linktr.ee/taupetaupetaupe
